A recent fresh dusting on the mountains confirms that winter is on its way! It certainly seems to have been a very unsettled summer but April so far has been very mild with some extremely beautiful days experienced on the mountain recently.
Work continues at pace on the mountain to get ready for the 2012 ski season with our anticipated opening date of Saturday 30 June only about 2 and a half months away! several smaller workparties have been held over the past couple of months and coming up at the end of this month is family workparty weekend – see details below.
12-4-12 – A view from the Waddington / SH73 intersection
12-4-12 – New Snow on Mt Cockayne
The next workparty on the calendar is Family Workparty Weekend which is being held over the weekend of Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 April.
We already have a large list of attendees registered so if you are intending to join in for either one or both days please make sure you register and don’t just turn up on the day. We have a large range of tasks lined up including firewooding, building maintenance and repairs, culvert clearing on the road, lodge spring cleaning, filling gabion baskets with rocks, gardening and tidying up around Forest Lodge plus lots more!
This weekend is usually a busy one and we try to make it family-friendly, but we do need parents to supervise their children while on the hill. The younger family members can help out with a
variety of tasks, such as moving rocks, collecting rubbish (e.g. there are heaps of old nails around the outside of Snowline), cleaning / tidying, helping mum or dad with their jobs, etc. We suggest you bring some games so they can amuse themselves at other times.

Back by popular demand after the sale could not be run in 2011 due to a lack of availability of suitable venues following the Christchurch earthquakes. The 2012 sale is to be held at “The Stables”, Addington Raceway on the 5 & 6 May.
In 2010 the event had over 4000 visitors during the two days it ran and it is expected that there will be bigger numbers this year, due to the absence of the sale in 2011 and the proximity to the start of the 2012 season.
Cheeseman will of course be at the sale with its popular stand and pre-season deals on lift tickets, we will also again have a kids corner to keep the kids entertained while parents checkout the sale / show.
The Club is again running a number of events prior and during the winter. We need your assistance to run these successfully.
If you help on these events you will be eligible for work party vouchers. You will be able to earn half or whole day vouchers.
To register your help with these events please contact us.
Please state:
We will contact you closer to the event to confirm what you will be doing.

Thats all for this edition of Cheeseman E-News. Keep an eye on our website for further updates as the 2012 season approaches.
Until next time take care.
