We are a smaller ski area which operates all regular aspects of a commercial ski area operation and we also own and operate two accommodation lodges. Groomer Operator

We are on the hunt for a full time snow groomer operator to carry out our daily field grooming requirements.

We have 2 x Pisten Bully machines, a PB200 “The Edge” free groomer (this is our main machine) and a PB300W which carries out some limited steeper terrain grooming from time to time each week as dictated by storms, weather and patronage. Hours each night can vary dependent on weather, patronage on the hill and special grooming requirements but between operation and care of the machine/s along with assisting in other areas of the operation this is a full time position for the entire winter season

The ideal person will have at least a couple of seasons under their belt and be able to work un-supervised during the evening and / or early morning. Winch operation would also be an advantage but not essential. We would prefer that applicants have a working understanding of machinery and a basic mechanical ability – these are not new machines so they do break down! Experience in operation of other machinery such as a Grader would be a definite advantage.

You will need a can do attitude positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to new situations and experiences. We offer the chance to learn new skills through out the operation and encourage staff to get out skiing / Riding when possible each day. On mountain accommodation & meals are provided for this role at a nominal weekly charge.

Ski Patroller

We have 2 positions available for enthusiastic and experienced Patrollers who are team players and not afraid to roll up their sleeves to join our small patrol team.

You should have a minimum of 2 seasons in the industry and Pre-hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) qualification (or equivalent). Ideally you will also have completed an Avalanche Level 5 (or equivalent overseas qualification). Experience with Avalanche mitigation by use of explosives would also be a benefit although not essential as we can provide training and eventual pathway to New Zealand qualifications in this area.

The role includes (but not limited to) general day to day ski patrol tasks, setting up and running the 2 T Bar lifts, daily trail set up, management and risk assessment, medical care and assisting the Snow Safety Officer run the Snow Safety programme.

On mountain accommodation and meals are provided, at a nominal weekly food & Board cost and we can possibly assist appropriately skilled overseas applicants securing a working holiday or New Zealand Work Visa.

Snow Safety Officer

We are seeking the services of a qualified Snow Safety Officer and forecaster for the 2025 season (July September approx.)

Applicants MUST have Avalanche Risk Management Level 6 (or equal overseas qualification) and Explosives CSL (controlled substances Licence) & handlers certification along with a minimum of 2 years or more working in the industry. We can assist with obtaining local qualification to any successful overseas candidate providing they have the relative experience and Qualification.

The role encompasses both office based and in field work and is responsible for the day to day safety of guests both on the ski area and access road from an Avalanche perspective.

You will also be heavily involved in the daily management of Hazard Management and general field operations alongside the Mountain Manager.

Your role will also see you working alongside the patrol team and you will be required to carry out general patrol work which will include the daily start up and operation of lifts (in conjunction with other operations staff), attending to Medical incidents, marking hazards, ensuring signage and safety fences are in place and correct and any other general patrol work as required.

This is a key role within the small staff team and we are looking for team players to work alongside a diverse team.
On Mountain Accommodation & meals are provided and charged at a nominal weekly fee.
