Summer has officially arrived

Summer has officially arrived and the mountain has taken on its summer look although you wouldn’t have thought that last Friday after a brisk overnight Southerly deposited a good dusting over the Mountain!

Summer bookings have been busy, particularly at Forest Lodge and its great to see people taking advantage of the great facilities we have to offer on the doorstep of what is growing into a very popular recreational area. The next stage of the Castle Hill mountain bike track has been given the go ahead and work will be underway this summer to build the track which will continue from the Texas Flat Chain fitting area through to Dracophyllum Flat click here for more info. If you would like more info on summer bookings please feel free to Contact Us, all 3 of our Lodges are available and each one provides different options for your specific requirements.

Workparty season is upon us once and a team has recently met to plan the work and we have some preliminary dates set with our first workparty kicking off this coming weekend. – see below for more information.

The below shots were taken last Friday 30-11-12 and could easily be mistaken for a pre-season June shot!

Workparties

The work party season has started!

There have already been some small teams working up the hill, but the season kicks off this coming weekend on December 8-9 with the mechanical team working up top and firewooding in the Forest Lodge area. We urgently need helpers for the firewood workparty so please contact Dave as below if you can help out for either 1 day or both days.

For those staying overnight, we will be up at Snowline lodge – bring your own lunches, breakfast food, drinks and nibbles and for a communal evening meal – meat – eg. chicken pieces, some veg and perhaps something for dessert.

For the firewood work party we will be tackling the dead trees that have been felled around the skating pond, and we need people to bring chain saws, gloves, hearing protection etc. One or two trailers would also be good. Work will involve trimming and cutting into rounds and then transporting back to the Forest Lodge firewood shelter. If there are enough people we can also cart some dry wood up to the Snowline lodge container.

So, how about having a day or weekend up at your favourite mountain before Christmas and the holiday period kicks in?

Contact Dave Hinman at 366 4903 or email d.hinman@nullxtra.co.nz as soon as possible to register for the workparty

Mt Cheeseman Annual General Meeting

The Club’s AGM is now held in March, following changes made to the Constitution to change the financial year of the Club.

Put this date in your diaries now: CASHMERE CLUB, MONDAY 11 MARCH 2013 AT 7:30 pm.

Formal notice will be given in the new year, including calling for nominations for the Management Committee and Development Council.

We would love to hear from any members thinking of joining either the Committee, Development Council or indeed any of the sub-committee’s that operate outside of committee level and play a very important part in the on-going running of the club – you don’t need to be on Committee to be involved with one of these groups!

Merry Christmas

We will be back in touch in the New Year and would like to wish all members, visitors and supporters a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year. Take care where-ever you may be and enjoy a relaxing summer break.

Regards
Cam & the Cheeseman team.
