Mountain Update – 4 September

The stunning weather continues up here at Cheeseman with numeruos days of cloudless blue skies and warm temperatures! Whilst it’s hard to complain about the fantastic run of bluebird days there is the downside that the snow is fast disappearing!

The upper mountain is still looking good but the lower slopes and Cat tracks are very thin and with little chance of much snow in the upcoming days (perhaps a little on Sunday night) your time is fast running out to enjoy the end of the winter season. Our scheduled closing is 28 September but we have put  together a revised timeline on a worst case scenario of no more new substancial snow falling as follows:

• Friday 5 Sept. – Sunday 7 Sept: Continued normal operation (including Pirate Party on Saturday – see below)

• Monday 8 – Thursday 11 Sept: The mountain will go on hold to preserve snow.

• Friday 12 – Sunday 14 Sept: Resume operations for the weekend (including Friday) which will include Undie 500 on Saturday and accommodation available at Snowline Lodge Saturday night.

It was great to see a good turn-out for the club champs last Sunday and thanks to our instructors for setting up some interesting courses and also to our club members who assisted on the day.

A treasure hunt will keep the older (and young at heart!) kids entertained. Decipher riddles and find all the clues hidden around the field before chasing down the Dread Pirate Steve to collect your bounty.
‘Walking the plank’ if yea dare. The most spectacular and entertaining death scenes all earn ‘pieces of eight’ aka crunchie bars for their efforts.

Face painting and colouring competitions are also happening and there is a giant treasure chest of pirate dress ups for the little kids. Do don’t miss out on a fun filled day and Pirate Party at Snowline in the evening…Arrr!
