Merry Christmas

Just a quick note from the Cheeseman team to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and to keep everyone updated with what’s been happening behind the scenes as summer progresses.

We are currently working on a new look website page and this will hopefully be ready to roll around March 2013 so we’ll keep you posted as this progresses.

The mountain is now virtually bear of all snow – although there is still a small patch visible on the very top of Cockayne! Maintenance of the tows and machinery has got underway prior to the Christmas break and will continue from about mid January onwards.

2013 Opening Day

Our opening day for 2013 has been locked in for Saturday 6th July and a number of events have also be added to the events calendar. The school holidays are a little later this year than normal which always helps guarantee better snow conditions when we open.

The popular ski weeks are filling fast and some are already full! We suggest that you book in now to avoid disappointment – click here for a list of Ski Week names and dates.

Season Pass coming

New for 2013, is a SEASON PASS only option. Because we know club membership doesn’t suit everyone we’re sure no work party requirements and free skiing all season will add greater flexibility with the season pass option. More info on this in the New Year.

N.B. No membership accommodation or other privileges will be available to season pass holders.

Mountain Bike Track Update – From Paul Weber

Dracophylum Track upgrade has been approved by the Department of Conservation and there is more information on this project by clicking here.

Castle Hill Community will hold two work parties on the 19th January and the 9th February 2013 to cut out the muddy sections, install culverts and remove windfall. Everyone to meet at Forest Lodge Car Park (off the Cheeseman Ski Field Road) at 9am. Bring some tools, back country gear, food and water. There will be a safety meeting at 9.10am and then we will walk in (about 1 km) to start rerouting the trail.

Another work party will be held on the 9th February, we will confirm the details of where to meet later.

Thats all for now so until 2013 please have an extremely happy and safe holiday period and we’ll be back in touch very soon.

Regards
Cam and the Cheeseman Team.
