It’s with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the Primary & Intermediate School Races due to be held tomorrow, Sunday 1 September at Mt Cheeseman.
Due to the current NW system we are in (wind and rain today) and based on the current forecasts for tomorrow, along with the unpredictability of the weather over the past few days, the mountain team have made the tough call to cancel. The weather and wet snow conditions have played a major factor in the decision, but we also must take into account the safety and enjoyment of racers, volunteer race officials and the mountain staff. Whilst we may be able to get the mountain operational tomorrow in marginal conditions, it’s just not going to be conducive to provide a good experience for the kids, which is the number one goal.
We have made this call as early as possible to allow people to replan their day and we are aware that there were some people having to travel a little distance to join us, so we want to be clear and decisive on our decision.
Our team will be in touch regarding race entry refunds over the next few days. Please bear with us on making this happen as our Club administrator is on leave so this may take a few days to process.
Once again, we are sad that we cannot run the event and with the late start to the season and rearranging of the events calendar we are unable to make a postponement date available now. We look forward to running the races in August 2025 and appreciate your understanding and support.
Regards the Cheeseman Team.
IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION
Please note: Race day is Sunday 1st September and will go ahead providing we have suitable weather on the day. There will be no postponement date. Due to light snow coverage we have limited terrain available for a course, so therefore this year there will be a single course which each racer will receive one run through only.
