Cheeseman has opened its facilities for summer use.
Now your group can enjoy the stunning surroundings and outdoor activities available in the Craigieburn ranges while staying in one of our two mountain lodges.
The surrounding area has many easily accessible outdoor activities including, world class rock climbing and bouldering at Castle Hill, caving adventures through cave stream, mountain biking and downhill riding, hiking, natures walks and orienteering.
The lodges are available for hire from October through until April for weddings and other celebrations, retreats as well as for school, tertiary and outdoor education.
From Christchurch its a 60 minute drive over Porters Pass to the Mt Cheeseman entrance and access road. An easy 6km drive takes you to Forest Lodge nestled at the base of the mountain on the edge of the beach forest and mountain meadow.
This lodge sleeps 38 people in comfortable bunkroom accommodation and is ideal for smaller functions. The lounge and kitchen area is welcoming and relaxing. The wood burner provides a cosy atmosphere while the large windows present magnificent mountain views. Forest lodge is easily accessible for educational and outdoor activities, as well as day trips to the Castle Hill area and beyond.
12 km from the Cheeseman entrance, Snowline lodge sits at 1500m above sea level. It has spectacular views to inspire your next wedding or event. It can accommodate 70 people in bunkroom style accommodation with an attached lounge and kitchen area. Beside Snowline Lodge is our modern and spacious Day Lodge. With it’s contemporary layout, indoor / outdoor facillities and stunning views, it is a superb venue for weddings, retreats, conferences and educational institutes.
