Snow Update
The Snow has been holding out well and we have received a small top-up of 10cm overnight with the weather gradually clearing today and looking clear for tomorrow. Reports from Ski weekers are that the skiing is still excellent and the upper Mountain coverage is still as good as its been all season with Skiers left of the Main T Bar being our groomer drivers pick of the runs. James is still confident we will still get the 1 metre dump he's been waiting for all season - groomer drivers paradise!
As we look ahead to spring we are confident to carry on operations until the school holidays in late September / Early October. The days are now starting to get longer with and the sunlight hours on the increase its always interesting to watch how much later the sun disappears over the Ridge as the season advances. During spring on selected days we will run the tows a little longer than usual to make the most of the longer days and warmer weather.
On the Mountain
Last Sunday was a busy day on the mountain with the Canterbury Primary & Intermediate Champs. About 240 Canterbury school Children registered to race this year which was an excellent turnout.
The weather was awesome for much of the day and the racing was completed by about 2:30pm just as it began to cloud over. Prizegiving held in the Daylodge at 3:30pm with a huge crowd gathering to find out the winners. Thanks to all the Club members and staff who were involved with either pre-race organising or race day support. Particular thanks to Helene & Denise who have spent weeks with enrollments and other organisational activities which went into making the day a great success and we look forward to running the event again in 2011.
Winning teams for 2010 were: Year 1 - 6 Elwood, Year 7 - 8 Medbury. For a list of all results please CLICK HERE.

Racer on the Red Course
This week we farewell some of our staff / Volys as they head back home to other commitments. A Mexican theme night was held last night for a farewell to the following from the team: Piper (Ski Patrol), Pete (Ski Patrol) & Sandra (Forest Lodge Caretaker). Everyone got in on the act by making decorations, sombreros, and Melissa even organised Mexican food! So thanks for your hard work during the season we hope you have enjoyed you time working on the hill and there's a chance we might see some of you back next season?
Don't forget race training is still running every Sunday on the hill. Please get in touch with the Mountain office if you would like to join in.
